Welcome to CodedChaos Hosting
Sakura is back!
So Sakura Radio is back. We're taking a different approach: slow and steady, not boom and crash. So that being said, we plan to have Sakura Radio around for a loooong time =)So what are you waiting for? Go check out Sakura Radio! Just click the little button that way --->
A lack of tolerance
So, I've gotten tired of being nice to hot linkers of media.codedchaos.com so now instead of getting the nice "stop hot linking" banner you get a little surprise =)Age of Conan
So yea, today I picked up Age of Conan! So far I've only played for about 30 minutes (while enjoying my friend's vista woes) but anyway.. we plan to make a clan/guild/whatever in-game so if you're on the bluesteel server and want a clan/guild/whatever contact Warhammer (that's me by the way.)Kernel Chaos
Had some downtime this earning morning--afternoon. Was caused by a kernel update gone bad. We've reverted to the previous kernel.Obligatory Update #1
They say no news is good news. But, who is this they, and what do they know about information management? Anyway, new server is doing well, and I have one week of school left until the summer. What a week!
Okay, some of you (if there are any you’s to be speaking to) may have noticed that CodedChaos hosting has been down for about a week. So now that we’re back, it’s time for public explanation. What happened, is our last VPS host had some datacenter problems, then they decided to move to another datacenter several states away, then their backup of our VPS failed, then their disaster recovery backup failed, then they were able to extract user files from the disaster backup very very very slowly (?), I purchased this brand new Core2Duo server from PacificRack, I got a DirectAdmin license and installed it on the new server, we finally got user files from VPS host, I am actively restoring users from a previous backup, then updating their files with the VPS host made backup (since their backup isn’t an easy to restore Directadmin-made backup.) And here we are now. With 100% less downtime :)Zefie Hosting Clients that were supposed to move on the 1st of May: We’ll get to you soon.
To any Zefie Networks' clients.
Please remember to mention Zefie Networks in your hosting application! I'm likely to accept all such users, however I WILL be confirming with Zefie Networks that you were one of their clients.Vista Woes
So yesterday I got my new laptop. It's an HP Pavilion dv6000t Special Edition. Has 2.50ghz Core2Duo with 3MB L2, 3GB of ram, Nvidia 8400, 250GB hard drive, dvd/cd burner, and unfortunately Windows Vista Home Premium..I can now say for sure, I know why Vista is hated. From the unintuitive controls (that looked very intuitive) to the lack of support for all my software that I either can't get a Vista compatible version, or I don't want to pay the money.
So, after about an hour and a half on vista, I decided to kill it and be done with it. I created my HP recovery DVDs just in case all hell broke loose. Problems arose when I tried to install XP though. Everything XP Setup claimed to not see a hard drive, and then it occurred to me that the XP CD doesn't have this shiny, vista-loaded moron's drivers for SATA hard drives. Well I do some hunting on HP's site and actually find every driver I need for everything (including SATA.)
So today, I'm going to get an external floppy drive (I know, it's that bad) so I can load in my 3rd party drivers, since embedding them into the XP install disc and editing config files to have the 3rd party drivers called up didn't work.
Updates are likely to follow in this development..
Update: I have successfully modded SATA drivers, made my own XP disc (2nd time is apparently the charm) and I'm currently formatting the hard drive to install Windows XP =)
Update 2: Now running XP with all important hardware working. The only things I haven't bothered with yet are the modem and the fingerprint scanner.
